# Opening Messages

### Overview

Opening Messages allow you to create and display a personalized welcome message to website visitors.

These messages help you:

* Greet visitors proactively
* Guide them to relevant actions
* Increase engagement and conversions

This feature enables targeted and customizable visitor interactions.

With Opening Messages, you can:

* Create a personalized welcome message
* Target specific visitor segments
* Customize the design and content

* Control when and where the message appears

### How to Access Opening Messages

1. Log in to SalesMonk.
2. Navigate to **Inbound** in the left sidebar.
3. Click on **Opening Messages**.
4. Click **New Opening Message** to begin setup.

### Setting Up an Opening Message

#### Step 1: Add Basic Info

Add a name and description for your Opening Message.

#### Step 2: Configure Targeting Rules

You can control who sees the message based on:

* Visitor segment
* Page URL
* Company attributes
* Behavior or engagement rules

This ensures the message is relevant and contextual.

#### Step 3: Define the Message Content

You can:

* Add a welcome headline
* Write a short description
* Include actionable buttons or quick replies

**Example**

> Hi there 👋 How can we help you today?

#### Step 4: Publish the Message

Once the Opening Message is saved:

1. Click on **Settings**.
2. Select **Widget Designer** from the side navigation bar.
3. Enable **Opening Messages**.
4. Click **Publish**.

The message will now be displayed to eligible visitors.
